Guys, please drop your story about forex from Day 1 to now.
Main Post:
I'm currently one year trading. And boy has it been a wild ride. From buying signal groups, to courses, to books. From burning 10 funded accounts, to live accounts to funded accounts again. Bad risk management, to finally good management. But just good risk management with signals. Not trusting myself.
I've changed analyzing different pairs a few times. From analyzing 3-5 pairs a day & taking like 20 trades a day.
I still have not found my "edge" it's truly been demotivating. I have trades that hit tp, but I have a hard time finding a routine.
Through all of this I have been wishing there were normal people I could look up to. No fake gurus selling sh*t. But there are 0! They all try to sell you a dream from 100-100K driving their lambo. It's ridiculous!
Guys, what has been your biggest mind shift change? How did you find your edge? How did you build the confidence to trade more?
Top Comment: I also stated in 2019. Got scammed a lot trying to learn from fake gurus, given the fact that I was green and was trying to find a way in to learn. I stuck with it on and off til 2022 and lost $1200 buying courses and losing in the market. I found a YouTuber that actually had decent course videos that taught me something solid. Dec. of 2022 I turned $455 to $4200 by trading options. From there, my profitability was shakey but enough for me to keep pushing. 2023 Found a futures trader that had really good marketing so I tried learning from his prerecorded videos and became profitable enough to give the middle finger at work without fear of consequences. (Mind you I still have never had a real mentor that I could talk to) This year a little brother of a friend offered me to join his group and learn from him because we’d go trade for trade every day and we both almost always shared winning trade results. I said what the hell, let’s see what you’ve got. A month after having a structured education and clear guidance, my work contract was up and I had a little time to trade full time, I made $29k in 2.5 months and had a $8k day all on my own. My ego was on steroids, spent quite a bit of money and messed up the rest on bad trades 🫠. Now I’ve been paper trading for 2 months and next week I’ll be trading a new futures account responsibly. I know what I’m capable of and I try my best to keep it a secret from new people and most people I know. 2025 will be amazing. Sparkles and money bags.
Day trading for living
Main Post:
I would like to ask how hard is it to become a day trader for living, like what it takes and how long does it takes to become constantly profitable?
Top Comment: It’s insanely difficult. It takes a long time to be profitable. You probably won’t succeed. There’s so much garbage on YouTube and there is a huge learning curve involved with trading.
SCALPING TRADING VS DAY TRADING VS SWING TRADING
Main Post:
Hello everyone. I'm new in forex. I was just wondering how to differentiate between scalping trading vs day trading. I'm stuck in the definition of those. Is there anybody who could help me to have a clear definition of those. My English is not good. Thank you for taking your time!
Top Comment:
Day trading is when you trade without holding your trades overnight.
Scalping refers to getting in and out of trades very quickly, within minutes usually. Scalpers tend to trade small time frames.
Swing trading refers to holding your trades for longer periods of time. Swing traders usually hold their trades for days/weeks.
You could (imo) say that someome who enters a trade on 15min and keeps the trade for many hours without holding overnight, is swing trading within the day.
So you get the idea. Dont focus on that tho. Trade the way it makes sense to you especially if you can get good results doing it.
How many pips a day do you make? Or try to make?
Main Post:
Last week I decided that I will stop trading after I've made ~50pips a day. Its helped me stay in the poaitive, although I've missed some large moves because I already made my quota and exited the market completely for the day..
Last two days Ive netted about 90 pips, which I am happy with. But who else here has a strict amount they stop trading after?
I feel like it may br a redundant question, but theres definitely some validity in keeping the pips youve made inatead of throwing them at an unpromising trade set up.
Top Comment:
Isn't it more logical to trade whenever there is good opportunity, and stop trading when there is no good signal? I can't see the logic behind an artificial pip per day limit.
Is anyone actually successful with day trading? (1, 5, 15 min timeframes)
Main Post:
It seems to be so much riskier and every time i think i've understood what's going on and how to profit from day trading (1/5/15 min timeframes), i always end up losing. So i have stayed away from it but i was wondering if anyone has had any success swing trading and how did you learn your strategy if so?
Top Comment: When I started trading, I was mainly focusing on scalping and news trading. I couldn’t hold a position overnight. Once I lost some money I realized that in order to make money from trading, I needed to remove the market noise, to filter my signals somehow. I moved to H1 and H4 charts and made my analysis based on those timeframes. It was hard at the beginning but now I prefer swing trading to day trading. In my case, once I started concentrating on weekly pivots instead of daily pivots I saw positive results.
3 Crucial Lessons I’ve Learned From 3 Years Day Trading (1.5 years consistently profitable)
Main Post:
After Almost 3 Years Trading, These Are 3 Tips That Allowed Me To Become Consistently Profitable
These are a few of many things that have helped me over the years. I hope you find some value from them ! 🙏🏼
- Using an indicator to complement a strategy, not create one. I’m sure a lot of you will disagree with this and that’s ok. Personally I’ve always been a price action guy and so in my early days I’d use indicators as a my shiny object to chase. More so than this the role of an indicator for me helps me to be systematic with my decisions. I am mainly a day trader/scalper so emotions and decision making are heavily intertwined.
- Focusing on less pairs. When I started I was concentrating on 10 pairs and the result was I didn’t learn anything - I was stressed and dysfunctional. I cut down to one pair for 6 months and then I made real progress. Now I trade 5 pairs but I feel I have earned my ability to do that as I’ve built up my discipline over years.
- Massively reduce screen time. Even though I scalp and day trade a lot, I don’t spend more than 2 hours per day looking at the chart. I have a system for setting up custom alerts and I refrain from looking at the screen otherwise. More screen time = more room for emotions = more emotions = more bad decisions = inconsistent results.
These sound simple and when I first started trading almost 3 years ago, I would of ignored them because I thought I knew it all. Took me 1.5 years to get consistent and I struggled with every emotional issue you can think of. I hope these help, any others you think should be added leave a comment 🙏🏼🚀
Top Comment:
Tip 3 is a really good and often neglected tip. You can have the best strategy out there and still lose money. Not getting emotional can mean the difference between a drawdown and blowing your account.
Thanks OP!

Forex, Futures or Stocks for Day trading?
Main Post:
What do you believe to have the most potential to be day traded? I dabbled with Forex for a month or two and went live but ended up signing up for a shady broker, which made me not so trustful of the forex brokers or markets who profit from the loss of small money like mine. +Forgot to add Commodities to title
TLDR; Whats the best investment option for day trading?
Top Comment:
You'd be better off burning your money than trading Forex, at least it will heat your house. I personally day trade stocks and options.
If you have less than 30k to start with, futures are your friend.
If you have 30k or more I would say to go the stock route.
How many hours do you spend trading per day?
Main Post:
I usually spend no more than 2-3 hours in total per day, to avoid emotions take control over my strategy. What about you?
Top Comment: I’ll sit here all day until my setup appears
